Parasitic isopods: Cymothoidae

Cymothoidae is a large isopod group attaching to mouth and gill cavities or the skin of various fishes, including commercially important species. Previous studies suggested negative effects of the infection on growth and body conditon of the hosts. On the other hand, basic ecology, species diversity and phylogeny of cymothoid isopods are still unclear. I and my colleague are studying ecology and evolutionary history of these cute creatures!
